For those of you wondering, “what is public health?”, well let me tell you public health is a lot of things. Public Health is the science and the art of preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting human health through organized efforts and informed choices of society and organizations. Unlike a doctor who would treat a certain disease, public health workers try to prevent disease and injury. Public health can be anything, in fact when I took my introductory public health course our first assignment was to make a sign that said “This is Public Health” and then take that sign anywhere we thought public health was being presented to take a picture. I went to a grocery store and took a picture of my sign with all the fresh produce, but my peers also did pictures at the gym, outside on the mall, and even within the classroom, the possibilities are really endless!

If any of you ever have any questions or just want to sit and talk, you can find me in the back of the office with the other interns! I would be more than happy to talk to all of you and get to know you more. Feel free to also email me at monicat1@email.arizona.edu and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
