Meet the UofA Interns who are working with Edge High School this Spring!

Hello to all! My name is Kimber Weippert and I am an undergraduate in my fourth and final year at the University of Arizona with a major in Psychology and a minor in Government and Public Policy. I am pleased to say that I will be interning at Edge High School this semester and I look forward to working   with the amazing students, staff, and fellow interns. It has only been three weeks since I have started at Edge and it is amazing how much I have already had the opportunity to learn and to experience. While at Edge my goal is to work one-on-one with students and help them to build skills that are both applicable inside and outside of school. In addition, I am eager to learn more about charter schools in Arizona and how policy decisions affect them during this legislative session. After graduation, one of my ambitions is to become a school guidance counselor and I think having this opportunity to work with a diverse group of students within a highly innovative and motivated space here at Edge is a key component to my success in the future!

My name is Alyse Garcia and I am one of the interns here at Edge High School. Currently, I am a fourth-year Psychology student at the University of Arizona. I plan on enrolling in a School Psychology graduate program after graduation. This internship at Edge directly relates to what I want to do in the future, which is become a school psychologist. While in school, students often face many challenges, such as family, work, or health issues. There is a lot of stress and pressure put onto students, and keeping their mental health in good condition is crucial. At Edge, I am focusing on conflict resolution and students’ mental health. I hope to learn more about students’ behavior in the school setting and how they cope with their situations and hardships.

My name is Maggie Orse and I am studying psychology and nutritional sciences at the university, and am excited to be a part of the Edge High School community! I chose to intern at Edge because of the diverse, inclusive, supportive and welcoming community. After one week of interning, I am more than excited to join the passionate staff that is here to help the students learn and grow. It’s important to me that the students of Edge challenge themselves, grow as individuals, and feel supported. I can’t wait for a great semester here at Edge with the staff and the students!
