I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and lived there until my family and I moved to Flagstaff, AZ as a teenager. After a few short years I moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona and despite having left numerous times for wildlife biologist positions I continue to be drawn back to my home here in the Sonoran Desert.
I love working at Edge because of the support and open-mindedness that all of the students and staff bring into the school each and every day. You really get a sense of community being here and it is an amazing feeling seeing the passion and effort that is displayed by our students throughout the year.
Some of my favorite hobbies include rock climbing and being in the mountains, welding, frisbee golf, and more than anything being outside with my wife and two dogs. Nature and science are two things I could never live without.
I grew up in the small town of Minot, Maine. I grew up in the log house my grandparents built, surrounded by thousands of trees and country air.
I love working at Edge because of the students, I have fun with them every single day.
My interests outside of school are God, family, and working out.
I grew up in a small hamlet (village) in the Catskill Mountain region of New York State. I lived there until graduating from high school and moved away upon entering the military.
I enjoy working at Edge due to the dedication of the staff and the overall mission of the school. In my tenure here I have seen many students succeed in ways that continues to solidify my belief that Edge provides a valuable resource to the Tucson community.
Outside of school I enjoy getting away from town and enjoying the mountains or the ocean. A nice leisurely motorcycle ride to a quiet destination with delicious food is always something to look forward to when time permits.
I grew up on a farm in Tippecanoe, Ohio. At the age of seven, I moved to Tucson with my parents and a younger sibling. I attended the U of A and received my degree in Secondary Education with a major and minor in English. While attending school, I frequently traveled over the breaks and during summers to many different places in the US, including Alaska.
I have currently been teaching for seventeen years for various alternative programs and charter schools. I am very fortunate to be employed with Edge for eight of my seventeen years in education. I love the fact that I leave Edge High School every single day feeling as if I made a difference in the lives of many youth. The connections and rapport that I have with both students and staff are what make me thrive every single day.
In my spare time I like to cook (and eat), attend hot yoga classes, spend time with my family and animals and grade student work.
A born and bred Cheesehead, I was raised the sixth of eight children in a small town in southeastern Wisconsin. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in English and Secondary Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse before moving to Kansas City, Missouri to work at a community college and attend graduate school.
I love working with the students at Edge High School because I learn something new from them every day. I also love the idea of meeting students where they are, helping them realize who they want to be, and assisting them to get where they want to go. And, I appreciate the school’s proximity to Eegee’s.
Besides grading papers, I like to grill out with my friends while watching the Green Bay Packers play. I also like to listen to live music, ride my motorcycle, and read Young Adult literature (my favorite genre).
I grew up in South Bend, IN (home of the University of Notre Dame). I am the 4th of 5 children, a total of 2 boys and 3 girls.
I love working at Edge because every day is a new day. Edge High School gives students more of an opportunity to be successful than most traditional schools. The staff at Edge are here for the right reason, to help students succeed and make a difference in their lives.
I like to play in the dirt (garden) during my spare time. I also like to cook (and eat). Crafts are another hobby of mine, mostly cross-stitch embroidery.
Katherine loves working at Edge because she feels the students are THE BEST, and she feels she is making a difference, working with them every day to achieve success in the English classroom! She enjoys sharing her love of literature and vocabulary, as well as exchanging ideas and learning from high school students. In addition, she loves encouraging young people to read and get excited about the world around them.
When Katherine is not working, she enjoys reading and playing tennis. She also loves hanging out with family, friends, and her dogs!
I was born in the little state of Rhode Island but have lived in Tucson since the age of 2.
I love working at Edge because it is like a family and the staff go beyond the extra mile for the students.

I grew up in a tiny suburb of Chicago called Medinah. I am the 6th of 7 children and always knew I wanted to be a teacher. Even when I was young, I enjoyed helping others to learn and grow. I started pursuing my bachelor’s degree fresh out of high school, and 25 years later, I finally reached my goal! I completed my undergraduate and graduate studies at Western Governors University and have been teaching for 7 years. I am happy to say that this will be my 4th year teaching at Edge.
I love working at Edge because of how the administration, faculty and students are all supportive of one another, not just with school, but in life outside of school as well. I also love the fact that I have the opportunity to work one-on-one with my students and help them to learn and reach new understanding, both in school and in life. We know our students by name and we care about them and each other as people, not just as students and coworkers.
I am a busy mom of six (5 boys and 1 girl) and grandma to one grandson. I live on the east side of Tucson with three of my children, my father-in-law and two dogs. I am excited to be coaching girls’ volleyball this year. When I’m not at Edge, I also work with junior high students in our community, and I have started a business making specialty baking mixes that caters to those with many food allergies.
I grew up in Southern California and moved to Tucson as a sophomore in high school. I graduated from The University of Arizona with a Bachelors degree in Geophysics and went back for a Masers degree in Accounting and earned my license as a Certified Public Accountant in 2007.
Edge is a wonderful place to use my passion for accounting and combine it with helping youth in our community. At Edge we each play a role in helping support our students learning; whether that is from budgeting for classroom and support service resources or supporting students clubs.
I spend my free time with my kids reading books, playing games and enjoying the Tucson sunshine and running as far as my mind and body will take me.
I grew up in multiple cities because my father was in the Air Force. Some of these were; Colorado Springs, Colorado, and St. Louis, Mo. He retired here, in Tucson, Arizona.
I love working here at Edge for multiple reasons; foremost among them would be the diversity of its student body. Students at Edge come from a multitude of different socioeconomic, ethnic and educational backgrounds. I love the challenge of finding a common ground from which we can build a rapport and educational success together.
The second reason would be the hard work of every staff member and teacher. Their work every day shows they are invested in the success of each and every student.
I enjoy walking Tummamoc Hill, a University of Arizona research treasure. In addition, I enjoy spending time cooking different foods and traveling to California beaches with my two kids, who are also Edge graduates.
On the little island of Puerto Rico I began the adventure of life as the 2nd oldest of 4 children. I enjoyed the island life for 7 years before completing the remainder of my childhood in Atlanta, Georgia . These beautiful places are the reason I LOVE plantains, the outdoors, Victorian architecture, our great nation’s history, and of course . . . the ATLANTA BRAVES 😉
I love working at EDGE because getting to work with youth, getting to raise up the next generation with the tools to not only survive but thrive is a huge HONOR and ENDEAVOR. Edge does this EVERYDAY! I love the creative, constant, and collaborative effort from admin to teachers to students to see individual SUCCESS EVERYDAY!
As a people person and constant adventurer you can find me doing one of the following on a regular basis : serving God, spending time with family and friends, mentoring high school and college students, on a mountain hiking or trail running, playing soccer on Mondays, planning weddings, being a foodie -chasing the next great bite, EATING BACON, reading a book, working on handwriting art, organizing something , or reorganizing something, and traveling!

When I’m not at Edge, I like to spend my free time gardening, working out, cooking with my spouse, doing yoga, hiking or rock climbing, making pottery, drawing, reading. I really love eating, exercising, being outside, and PLANTS!
