Here comes the new normal. We can’t wait to see you in-person and welcome your shining faces back to our Edge classrooms. For those remaining in distance learning, we’ve got you, too. We are going to tackle this next chapter — together!

First off, if you’re feeling any angst about returning to school in-person — let’s talk about it. We want to know anything that feels challenging or prohibitive to getting you that high school diploma you’ve been chasing through all these pandemic (and other) hurdles.

It’s completely understandable to feel nervous about returning to in-person school after a year away. Study stress?  Friendship issues?  General worries about having to go back into the classroom after so much time spent at home? We can help!

We get it that for some of you getting back to class is exciting and can’t happen soon enough. We also recognize that for others, being home and isolated has been tough — and might even be tough to pivot from. Whatever you feel — we feel it, too!

Our teachers and staff are here for you and all the high school realities you face. We firmly believe that being together each day for in-person and online learning is the best place you can be right now. You are moving mountains all the time, focusing on your future adult goals; and we are here for it.

Routine, Routine Routine

We can’t say it loud enough. Routine matters. Starting now — practice going to bed earlier/at a reasonable hour.

Get up when it’s time for school, even if you’re not yet jumping on the bus or in the car to Edge. Get your body adjusted.

Eat breakfast. And hydrate. Water is your friend.

Pack up everything you need the night before and have it ready for the next morning.

Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder

This pandemic has been anything but easy. We have all gone through it, together. Even those moments when you felt like you were totally alone  — you had billions of people globally impacted in similar ways. Everyone you know has been impacted by the pandemic. And even those you don’t. Drake. Patrick Mahomes. Kamala Harris. The Tiger King. Chris Rock. Beyonce. It’s a shared experience.

Whatever concerns you may have about falling behind or not being ready for in-class demands, we got you there, too. We’re all going to need a grace period to adjust and adapt. And grace we have at Edge.

And as a reminder, all the things that made you fantastic are still in you. Your inner wiring for communicating, for creating solid relationships with others and for understanding what does and does not work for you in life (also known as your moral compass) are still very much in working order.

We truly want to help you with anything you’re feeling. We appreciate the situation you are in and we have nothing but compassion for you and your ongoing ability to pursue your high school graduation.

We are your champions.
